My Best Friend!

Hi, I just wanted to introduce my best friend forever. If you're like me and just love animals, especially dogs then you may find my story interesting :)

His name is PomPom. I adopted him about three months ago and he is just the sweetest little furbaby. They estimate him to be about a year and half to two years old. He’s a Pomeranian mix hence the name PomPom…I thought it was cute and fitting (and it’s unisex). He was found running so they didn’t have any information on him at the shelter.

I waited what seemed like forever for him because small dogs go in seconds at the shelters. We have a weight limit (25lbs) where I live so I was searching for a while and within 100 miles. I finally got lucky in November and drove a ways to the meet and greet with him. He came out prancing like a little pony lol so cute and friendly…it was love at first site. He jumped right up into my lap…that’s all it took.

He is so affectionate, smart, and just loves long walks…I was so thrilled about that.  I couldn’t ask for a more perfect dog for me.

We did have some challenges in the beginning however. When I brought him home and tried to walk him he started barking at everyone and their dogs. This continued for a couple of weeks and I would try to avoid people while walking him…not such an easy thing to do living in a community/complex of 250 people close together. I assumed he was just adjusting to his new environment, but really needed some advice on what to do. I called the Shelter for some advice and I was asked if I read the 3-3-3 rule that was emailed to me.  Well, I was so busy with my new furbaby that I didn’t read any of my emails. After I hung up, I immediately went to my email and found the information on the 3-3-3 rule. This information helped me so much. After reading it, I felt some relief knowing that in a few months, he would be feeling more comfortable. Sure enough slowly but surely it happened with both people and their dogs here. He has so many friends now and even plays with them at our little dog park. He’s a really great dog, the very best I could ever ask for. He’s also very protective and I like that especially in these crazy troubling times that we are living so when the barking becomes necessary, he’s on guard. I like that a lot!

I’m so lucky to have found this adorable furbaby. He’s so sweet and so smart and the fact that he loves long hikes is just a blessing from above. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect dog… I love him so much. I think we rescued each other.  He’s my best friend!!

I put a little video together to let the shelter know how he is doing. They have been really great. They even offered a free dog training session when I called. If it weren’t for the distance I would have taken them up on it. (Don’t really need it now :)  I highly recommend them if you're in Florida and looking for a furbaby ...Cape Coral Animal Shelter,  Cape Coral, Fl...you can find them on Facebook too.

I'm so grateful to them for my beautiful furbaby and best friend forever :)

Thanks for visiting!

Be well and stay strong :)
